Safer Schools - Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls
Whether you are a school or a funder, we can support your work against sexual abuse and violence.
Jan 07, 2025
Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Week takes place in the first week of February. This week long event aims to raise awareness of sexual abuse and violence.
Loudmouth have many programmes that can support your education around sexual abuse and violence. These are all age appropriate and well researched with programmes that work across Key Stages 2 to 4.
We can also support councils and the Police in their work to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG) with engaging educational programmes that empower young people to spot signs of abuse and know how to safely challenge and report sexual abuse and violence.
We have seen an increase in disclosures around issues such as sexual abuse and domestic violence and our work on sexual harassment is now our most booked programme.
"I can state quite categorically that had my therapy clients or I myself seen such a production and been part of such discussion when we were these pupils' age it would have saved us all what has often been decades of distress and has altered the course of our lives dramatically. Your work is priceless and I applaud Loudmouth's commitment to getting the word out and making the difference you do. Thank you." - Sally Craig, Therapist
Below are some of the way that we can help your school and organisation to make schools safe and prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Helping Hands - This is an early intervention programme that gently introduces topics such as child sexual abuse, child exploitation and sexual harassment. The drama is constrcuted around the NSPCC PANTS rules and uses short and appropriate scenes that look at how the PANTS rules could be used in real situations and how to get help and support. The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) toolkit shows that social skills training such as role play and problem solving workshops are particularly effective with 9-10 year olds in reducing crime.
Screen Time - This is a new programme that launches in March 2025. This looks at misinformation and disinformation and supports children in young people in being able to spot unreliable content online. The programme also explores the impact of misoginstic post and content.
Bully 4 U (Secondary)- This secondary school programme covers the way that bullying can be used in different ways to coerce or abuse others. It looks at sexual extortion (sextortion), sexual harassment and sexist bullying as well as domestic abuse / violence. The programme looks at how these different forms of abuse are crimes and how people can spot and report these crimes.
Calling It Out - This is now our most booked programme and supports schools and students to look at the harmful sexual behaviours. There has been an increase in online mysognist influencers and so space is needed for young people to understand the impact of any resulting comments or behaviour. The drama and workshop looks at how all young people can play a role in challenging sexual abuse and violence and call out sexual harassment.
Safe and Sound- This sensitive programme uses a drama and discussion workshop that follows a young couple as their relationship develops. Looking in on their relationship the pupils are shown the characteristics of both a healthy and unhealthy relationship exploring the concepts of respect, privacy and consent and develop the skills to spot abusive and coercive behaviours within relationships.
Working for Marcus- This is one of our longest running programmes on sexual abuse and violence and looks at child exploitation including child sexual exploitation. The programme has recently been updated to include more work on the role of vulnerability in sexual exploitation and contextual safeguarding.
