Media Literacy and Online Safety
It is Safer Internet Day - Learn about how we can help...including news of our new programme with Ofcom on media literacy and online safety
Jan 28, 2025
It is Safer Internet Day on the 11th of February and so what better time to announce some exciting news about our new programme, Screen Time.
Screen Time has been funded by Ofcom to work in East Birmingham schools over the spring and summer. The programme works with Years 6 and 7 with options for parent and teacher training sessions. Screen Time looks at media literacy and supports children and their parents to learn about healthy screen time, spotting mis and disinformation and of course, internet safety.
If you are based in East Birmingham then get in touch on 0121 446 4880 to see if you are eligible for your free sessions. The free sessions are booking fast so contact us quickly to see if you can grab this offer.
But don't worry if you are not in East Birmingham, as Screen Time is still available for schools to book. We are taking bookings for all dates from the beginning of March. The script is hot off the press (well, printer) and rehearsals start in a couple of weeks so you could be one of the first schools to take part in this exciting new programme.
In addition to Screen Time we have some other programmes that you can use for any internet safety work during this term.
Bully 4 U Primary - Meet the Bully Busters and help your pupils become superheroes and learn about how to spot and stop bullying. This includes work on cyberbullying and key tips to know what to do about bullying via smartphones and devices.
Helping Hands - This programme covers many aspects of staying safe and healthy relationships and includes work on staying safe when taking part in online gaming.
Bully 4 U Secondary - This programme helps students to look at some more complex forms of bullying including harassment, sexist and homophobic bullying. The programme now also contains work about online harassment and sextortion.
Working for Marcus - This long running and popular programme aims to protect young people from grooming and child exploitation. This includes work on county lines and looks at online grooming via social media.
