It is the time of year when many senior leaders look ahead to the new academic year and plan their approach and spending on wellbeing and safeguarding.
At Loudmouth, we provide a range of programmes that can support your school. Here are five key benefits of working with us in 24/25.
1. Improve Staff Wellbeing, Support and Confidence around RSHE
We deliver over 1,000 sessions a year and so we see first-hand the pressures on school staff. We can help with that burden and support your teachers in their delivery of RSHE topics. Many staff do not feel confident with introducing the topics or don't feel informed enough or have the time to prepare. Our experienced staff can educate around issues such as county lines, knife crime, harmful sexual behaviours, domestic abuse and mental health in a way that safely allows staff to follow up the work. Your staff can relax in the knowledge that when we visit, our approach will engage your students and will be safe, well researched and age appropriate. All of our programmes work with both the existing RSHE guidance and the new draft guidance. We can also provide staff training sessions to increase confidence and skills in delivering RSHE. In addition to booking our live programmes, schools that book with us get access to over 100 RSHE lesson plans and resources to help cut down on planning.
2. Increase your Provision and Education on Safeguarding
Our programmes can work with your RSHE and Safeguarding policies to help students to be more aware of safeguarding provision in school. Our work can make the connection with the issues they may face in their day to day lives and the support available in school. It can increase confidence in students coming forward if they feel unsafe and highlight who they should go to in school. Loudmouth specialise in safeguarding and work closely with many national safeguarding organisations to ensure that the work we provide is safe and appropriate.
3. Promote Safety around Harmful Sexual Behaviours in School
There has been a lot of work in recent years to ensure that schools are safe places for students. Everyone's Invited website and Ofsted's own 2021 review reported 'normalised' sexual harassment in schools. The inspections now assess how schools and colleges confront sexual harassment, abuse and violence among children and young people. A recently published report showed that staff also experience sexual harassment from students. Loudmouth’s programmes can be part of your work to push or change the culture of the school, address misogyny and look for ways to ensure that all staff and students feel safe in school.
4. Deliver RSHE that Students Want
A recent report by the University of Birmingham highlighted that young people find RSHE ‘boring’. They wanted more ‘participatory teaching styles’ and practical sessions that allowed them to reflect on their own lives and experiences. Loudmouth’s work is well evaluated with 99% of students recommending the programmes for future years. Our well researched drama bringing real life issues to life and the workshops provide space for students to interact with the characters and discuss the issues raised.
5. Proven, Reliable and Safe Provider (with Support for Parents)
Loudmouth has been delivering education programmes in schools for 30 years. We have a dedicated admin team who know how schools work and how to work with you to get the right programme, format and approach for your school. Unlike, many other outside visitors or theatre companies, our delivery staff are trained to work with young people and are Safeguarding level 3 trained. They are confident and experienced in teaching about sensitive topics and are prepared if they do have disclosures or concerns during a session. We even provide video back up and provide information, visibility of the approach and support for parents.
