Loudmouth's sessions are a great way to unify students from different feeder schools in September and set a clear, consistent foundation before you launch your RSHE curriculum.

Here are some of the most popular programmes that you could use to support your Year 7s and shape a positive school experience. Plus, if you book your September sessions for your new Year 7's before the end of July you will beat the price rise and get next year's sessions at this year's prices!

My Mate Fancies You : Consolidate their puberty education and help a smooth transition to secondary school

By the end of primary school, all pupils should know the key facts about puberty and the changing adolescent body, including physical and emotional changes. The detail of what each feeder primary school will have covered will often vary and so it can be hard when teaching RSHE to Year 7 to know where the knowledge sits with your Year 7s.

My Mate Fancies You, can help to get everyone to a similar level so that their knowledge around puberty is more consistent allowing you to build on that in your RSHE throughout the year. It also helps to create discussions around how students can make the most out of their move to secondary.

My Mate Fancies You, follows the story of two friends as they grow up from 10 to 13 and move from primary to secondary school. Through the characters, your Year 7's can learn and share tips into managing the transition from making new friends, navigating round the new school or being organised and ready for a range of new subjects.

Screen Time : Set school guidance on the use of smartphones and support online literacy and safety

There is a lot of discussion around the use of mobile phones in school. Some schools have introduced bans, others have tried initiatives where students volunteer to store their phones in lockers during the school day. Whatever your school policy, you may want to find ways to help your new Year 7 students to understand the reason behind restricting the use of screens and explore how to balance young people's desire for the things that they love online with understanding the benefits of balancing that time and being able to spot unsafe or unreliable content.

Ofcom have commissioned Loudmouth to develop a brand new programme on media literacy for children, young people and parents.

Screen Time, explores mobile phone use and again covers the transition from primary to secondary school and the time when many children get their first smartphone. The programme can help you to establish your own rules and guidance around phone use in school as well as prepare children for being responsible online and to understand dis and misinformation.

Bully 4 U : Establish your Anti-Bullying Policy and where to get help and support in School

Year 7 B4U.jpg

Establishing a school culture is very important and the first few weeks of Year 7 is a great time to set down expectations and ground rules. Whilst schools have an Anti Bullying policy, it can be a challenge to get this across to students. Bullying can be one of those topics where students switch off and think that they have heard it all before.

Our bullying programme, Bully 4 U, can be used to widen student's understanding of bullying and see the impacts of different forms of bullying. It can be used as a way to lay out your own Anti-Bullying Policy to the new Year 7’s and ensure that the new intake know where they can go to in school if they or someone they know is being bullied.

The drama contains a range of scenes and monologues and covers issues such as cyberbullying, hate crime, misogyny and sexual bullying. The programme can help in introducing topics that you can revisit throughout thei school career in your RSHE and provides a safe and early way in to explore homophobic bullying and bullying in relationships such as coerscive control and domestic abuse.

You can find out more about Bully 4 U here.
