We have been working in schools for three decades. A lot has changed but some of the challenges facing schools haven’t. Funding and budgets have always been a challenge, especially for RSHE and outside visitors and partners. The three main challenges we hear about bringing us in are -
1. Time - There are clear benefits to bringing in outside visitors but this can mean taking students out of lessons for other subjects and the logistics of collapsing the timetable.
2. Space – There may be challenges in finding the right size space to get together all the students to watch the drama. The school hall or drama theatre may be booked up or only available for part of the day.
3. Cost – Whilst many schools use the main school budget, others may rely on the RSHE budget or grants or parent contributions. The budget available may affect the format that the school can afford.
We have worked with schools to find different ways that we can help them to overcome these different challenges. If you would like to work with us to support your RSHE and safeguarding education then we have a range of options that can help.
We also provide a format where we deliver to a whole year group in an assembly style format. This approach typically lasts an hour and takes place in the school hall. A useful option where time or budget (or both) is tight. Find out more here.
If we are working in a large secondary school, we can run days when we deliver the drama to the whole year group and then break into class sized workshops throughout the rest of the day. Find out more here.
If we are in a small primary school or a pupil referral unit then we can run classroom based sessions where we run the performance and discussion workshop with a class sized group. This can take place in a small room or classroom. Find out more here.
