The drop down format has some very practical advantages. The cost is lower than booking multiple classroom sessions for each form group as we can reach all of your students in a year in a single day.
The students all view the drama performance together, typically as a whole year group. This is usually at the start of the day and students watch the drama and interact with the characters in a Q&A session. They explore new concepts and learn new definitions and leave knowing about where they can get further support in and out of school.
Then throughout the day, each class takes part in a small group discussion based workshop. The workshops typically last 20-30 minutes and we can run up to 9 workshops over a single day. These workshops can take place in the school hall or same space as the initial performance or can be run in smaller spaces such as classrooms. Our teams can move from classroom to classroom to minimise disruption and moving groups.
All schools and organisations who book the drop down format, also get access to a bank of online lesson plans. Because of this, some schools use the format as an opportunity to run a carousel day where students rotate between various activities or other outside visitors / speakers.
In addition to the delivery on the day, each venue that books this format also gets
- Access to over 100 free lesson plans. Schools can use the lesson plans we provide for teachers to run related activities throughout the day for the other simultaneous workshops.
- Access to free online training sessions on RSHE / RHE delivery.
- Support and updates on RSHE / RSHE and safeguarding.
- Early notification and access to booking new programmes or new resources.
- Support and ideas on using the work as part of their Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) work, cultural capital, school culture and behaviour initiatives.
This format minimises disruption to the school as a whole year group can have an immersive and full experience and learn a lot about a topic in a single day. The cost for all of the above, using the drop down style format, for a typical year group of 200 works out at less than £8 per student.*
