12 Ways Loudmouth Can Help

It's Christmaaaaaaaas!!! So we are shamelessly riffing off the 12 Days of Christmas to bring you 12 ways that Loudmouth can support your RHE / RSHE in 2025.

1. Reaching a Wide Range of Learners

Our approach uses theatre to play out common experiences followed by interactive workshops and discussions. We are regularly told by staff how surprised they were at students who were really engaged and involved in the session as they usually don't get involved in lessons.

2. A Different Voice / Relatability

This can be a frustrating one for teachers, but sometimes the same messages from a different voice can help them to land. Our Actor / Facilitators are mostly in their mid twenties. This can help students to identify and relate to them in discussions.

3. Teaching Sensitive Subjects in a Safe Environment

We have 30 years experience in finding ways to cover sensitive subjects in a way that resonates with young audiences whilst ensuring that everyone feels safe.

4. Building Teachers' Confidence

A poll of more than 2,000 teachers by the NSPCC children’s charity and National Education Union found 47% of teachers lack confidence in their own ability to deliver the new curriculum. Our programmes are great ways to open up challenging topics with loads of free lesson plans. We can also support with training with simple and effective ideas and techniques to use in RHE / RSHE.

5. Prevention Work

Our programmes help children and young people to learn about issues that they may experience or see around them in the next few years. Our Talking Heads programme for secondary students can really help people to manage their mental wellbeing using techniques such as the 'Five ways to Wellbeing'.

6. Signposting to Support Agencies

We signpost to key local and national support services such as Childline. We help students to learn key numbers and information about these services as well as sharing where they could go for support at home or at school.

7. Supporting Disclosures

All of our Actor / Facilitators are Level 3 safeguarding trained. Last year we had 133 disclosures. The work can help children and young people to realise that they are not alone and can get help and feel confident enough to ask for help. You can read more about our approach here.

8. Up to Date and Accurate Information

We can take pressure and work from your staff. You can rely on our work to be accurate and kept up to date. We work with key charities and organisations and ensure that all of our work complies with the current RSHE guidance.

9. Teaching Safeguarding Skills

Safeguarding is such an important element of school life. It prepares them with strategies to keep safe such as spotting when they don't feel safe and techniques and skills that could help them in the future.

10. Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

We can be part of your strategy to show how you are making your school a safe place for students. This can include establishing a clear school culture, ensuring that women and girls feel safe in public spaces such as school corridors through RSHE that reflects reality and equips young people with the information they need.

11. Access to the Arts

We have worked with over 1.5 million children and young people. We know that most of these have not visited the theatre or will have experienced much live drama. This can be a way to introduce students to a cultural experience that they may not get otherwise and see a different way that art can be used to educate and inform.

12. Develop Empathy for Others

This is one of our favourites. Our work is developed through research and includes ways to share the stories of people or groups who may not have been heard. We use Q&A sessions with the characters where we can share experiences and perspectives that the audience may not have heard or hear comments that they recognise and feel less alone.
