We have new funding for this academic year for secondary schools (mainstream and non mainstream) in Nuneaton and Bedworth. This work is funded by the Police & Crime Commission grant scheme with the support of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Communities (Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council). The programmes available are Working For Marcus (child sexual exploitation awareness), Safe and Sound (teenage partner abuse) and One 2 Many (alcohol and drug awareness).
After the last tour:
- As a result of seeing the Working for Marcus programme, 94% of pupils said they felt confident or very confident in spotting signs of sexual exploitation and grooming. One pupil wrote that “As a result of seeing the Working for Marcus session I will keep an eye out for sexual exploitation/grooming. I will warn my friends and I will never do anything I feel uncomfortable with.”
- 100% of pupils recorded that the Safe & Sound programme helps them to stay safe from teenage partner abuse. One pupil wrote this was because “the programme teaches what a healthy relationship looks like where to seek advice, when and how.”
- 97% of pupils who participated in the One 2 Many sessions could identify that so called ‘legal highs’ are actually illegal. One pupil wrote “It shows the consequences and effects of drugs and alcohol.” Another wrote “I will think before doing any drugs or drinking alcohol.”
