We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a contract from Ofcom to deliver a new media literacy programme in East Birmingham.

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a contract from Ofcom to deliver a new media literacy programme in East Birmingham.

This includes the development of new Loudmouth theatre in education programme. This will work with young people in primary and secondary schools as well as sessions for parents, teachers and the local community.

"As part of our three-year media literacy strategy, we have committed to working with communities to make sure that everyone has the essential skills they need to navigate content safely and flourish online. In East Birmingham we are pleased to be working with Loudmouth and Connect Futures to trial innovative approaches to improve the media literacy of children, young people and their parents.” - Claire Levens, Head of Media Literacy Policy, Ofcom

We are really excited to be working with Ofcom and local organisation Connect Futures. We will be working with Year 6 pupils in primary school and Years 7s in secondary school. Connect Futures will be working with students in Year 8 upwards.

The programme aims to support children and parents to learn how to enjoy their time online and make good choices so they feel safe, act respectfully and recognise mis and disinformation.

We are currently in the research and development stage. Teachers or professionals who would like to take part in the research can complete a short survey here.

The sessions will take place across East Birmingham between April and July 2025. We are taking bookings now and the session is free for all eligible schools in East Birmingham but schools anywhere can book for 2025.

If you would like to find out if your school is eligble for funding or would like to find out more about this new programme than contact us on 0121 446 4880 or email us at enquiry@loudmouth.co.uk
